I recently moved back to the mountains and was quite surprised to find how easily out of breath climbing stairs made me. My body didn’t feel quite right. It took a little while (Mar-Apr) to remember that it takes time to acclimate to 8,000 feet above sea level!
Part of feeling not quite right was not realizing that my body was going through a shift while I was in it. I thought how true it is in all parts of life. While we are in the middle of transition, we don’t feel quite right. We’re in an unknown region and looking for stability.
There’s something about living at a high altitude that inspires me to be mindful of keeping my body in good condition. I feel more up here.
Coming back to the mountains made me realize I’d gotten soft…
